Engineered Hardwood

Discover the peace of mind that comes with Floorland’s commitment to excellence.

Engineered hardwood floors look like solid hardwood floors.

On an engineered hardwood flooring plank, the top layer (wear layer) is solid hardwood but much thinner than a solid plank of hardwood flooring. The installation of engineered wood floors though is much faster than solid hardwood floors. Because of the thin top wear layer they cannot be refinished as often, if at all.

Pros:

• Time: It takes much less time to install an engineered hardwood floor in comparison to a solid unfinished hardwood floor.
• Thickness: Engineered wood floors are as thin as 3/8”. This allows for flush transitions to another flooring surface in the home when remodeling.
• Price: Engineered wood floors are usually more aNordable than a solid hardwood floor.

Cons:

• Color and finish selections are limited, no adjustments can be made.
• Products are discontinued due to trend changes, making engineered wood floor repairs and replacements diNicult.
• Often engineered hardwood floors cannot be refinished. Once worn, they must be replaced.
• Edges are beveled on most pre-finished hardwood floors, which can make cleaning more diNicult.
